Who might be able to join this trial:

• Boys between 3 and 7 years old who are scheduled for a planned adenoid and/or tonsil removal surgery under general anaesthesia
• Children who are able to speak and communicate verbally
• Children who are considered generally healthy or have only mild health conditions (as assessed by the anaesthesia team's standard health rating system)
• A parent or legal guardian has given written permission for the child to take part

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition, a genetic condition, or a neurological or developmental disorder
• Children who have a long-term pain condition or are receiving ongoing medical treatment that could affect their anxiety levels
• Children who do not wish to take part, even after being gently encouraged by the research team
• Children who have used any additional anti-anxiety medications or treatments before the study intervention that are not part of the study plan
• Children who have previously had any surgical procedure
