Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 50 and 85 years old
- People whose memory and thinking are assessed as being within a normal range on a standard cognitive test
- People who have been experiencing moderate low back pain daily or almost every day for at least the past three months (rated 3 or more out of 10 on a pain scale)
- People who have been experiencing mild to moderate depressive symptoms, as measured by a standard depression questionnaire (PHQ-9 score between 5 and 19)
- People who are able to speak and read English
- People who do not plan to change any pain medications during the trial period
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a serious underlying illness, such as cancer
- People with certain other mental health conditions involving psychosis
- People assessed as having an elevated risk of suicide based on a standard safety rating scale
- People whose physical limitations would prevent them from taking part in meditation practice
- People who have previously participated in a meditation program
- People with certain heart or cardiovascular conditions, a recent ear injury, metal implants in or above the neck area, or other conditions that may make a specific type of ear-based nerve stimulation used in this trial unsuitable (confirm with trial site for full details)
- People who do not have access to the internet
