Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with a solid tumour (such as breast, lung, stomach, cervical, uterine, ovarian, pancreatic cancer, or melanoma, among others), confirmed by a tissue or cell sample
  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who are planned to receive a type of chemotherapy called taxane-based treatment (such as paclitaxel, nab-paclitaxel, or docetaxel, alone or combined with other medicines) either before or after surgery for early-stage cancer, or people with advanced cancer who have not yet had chemotherapy
  • People with a life expectancy of at least 3 months
  • People who are reasonably active and able to care for themselves, as measured by a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose heart, liver, kidneys, and bone marrow are functioning well enough to safely receive chemotherapy
  • People who are willing and able to sign a consent form and follow the study procedures

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose major organs are not functioning well enough to safely handle standard doses of chemotherapy
  • People who already have, or have previously had, nerve damage in their hands or feet (a condition called peripheral neuropathy)
  • People with certain skin conditions on their hands or feet, or an active skin infection, that could make it difficult to assess nerve-related symptoms
  • People who have recently taken medicines that may reduce nerve pain or related symptoms (confirm with trial site for specific medicines)
  • People who have difficulty swallowing, a bowel obstruction, or any other condition that could affect how the body absorbs medication
  • People who are known to have an allergy or sensitivity to a substance called mecobalamin
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
