Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have had their first-ever hip replacement surgery on one side only
• People who have completed at least a primary school level of education
• People who are 18 years of age or older
• People who are willing to participate and work closely with the care plan
• People who agree to continue with the programme and attend follow-up appointments for six months after leaving hospital
• People who score high on a recognised fear-of-movement scale called the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (confirm with trial site for the exact score required)
• People who are medically stable and have been cleared to participate by their orthopaedic surgeon

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are having a revision (repeat) hip replacement surgery, rather than a first-time procedure
• People who have severe arthritis in the opposite hip
• People who have a serious active condition affecting metabolism, muscles, nerves, or the heart and blood vessels
• People with a body mass index (BMI) above 40
• People who have or have had cancer, or who have another bone, joint, or nerve condition that could affect the study's treatment or results
• People who have any condition that makes communication difficult
• People who are unlikely to cooperate throughout the study
• People who have a diagnosed cognitive disorder (such as memory or thinking difficulties)
• People who have any diagnosed psychological illness or disorder
• People who have previously taken part in a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programme
• People who are pregnant
