Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with a history of alcoholism
  • People who have had an allergic reaction to local anaesthetic
  • People with a history of, or higher risk of, poor wound healing, heavy scarring, or raised scar tissue (keloid formation)
  • People whose ET or ET-Plus is considered likely to be caused by a brain injury or a problem with blood supply to the brain
  • People who have another neurodegenerative condition or signs of another neurological problem alongside their tremor
  • People with an abnormal DaTscan result (a type of brain imaging scan used to assess certain movement disorders) (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are currently being treated with a medication called carbidopa-levodopa for Parkinson's disease
  • People whose tremor only affects the head or voice, with no arm tremor
  • People whose tremor only occurs during one specific task, such as writing
  • People whose tremor only occurs in certain body positions and does not otherwise meet the full criteria for an ET diagnosis
  • People whose tremor started suddenly or has worsened in a step-by-step pattern
