Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 16 to 70 years who are right-handed
- People who have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder (a condition involving intense fear of social situations) according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5)
- People who are taking psychiatric medications, as long as the dose has stayed the same for at least 4 weeks before joining the trial
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily and sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of neurological conditions or serious physical illnesses, such as epilepsy/seizures, brain tumours, stroke, or brain aneurysms
- People who have a primary diagnosis of another psychiatric condition, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, other anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or certain physical symptom disorders
- People who have metal implants in the head or neck, or any other medical reason that would make brain stimulation treatment (TMS) unsafe for them
- People who have previously received TMS (a type of brain stimulation) treatment
- People who are currently using, or have used within the past 4 weeks, sedative medications called benzodiazepines at adequate doses for more than 2 weeks
