Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults between 18 and 65 years old who are currently admitted to a psychiatric hospital
• People who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition, as classified under standard international diagnostic guidelines (ICD-10-CM)
• People who have smoked every day in the past six months and score 2 or higher on a standard nicotine dependence test (the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence)
• People who are experiencing nicotine withdrawal symptoms after being required to stop smoking upon hospital admission, with a baseline score of 5 or higher on a standard withdrawal scale (the Minnesota Tobacco Withdrawal Scale)
• People who agree to follow the hospital's standard nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) program during the study
• People who are able to understand what the study involves and are willing to sign a written consent form

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a serious skin infection, open wound, or sore on the outer ear
• People who have a severe blood clotting disorder or who are currently taking high doses of blood-thinning medication
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People who have significant difficulty with language or thinking and reasoning that would prevent them from completing questionnaires or following the study procedures
• People who have received ear-based (auricular) therapy for quitting smoking within the past three months
