Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a crystal joint disease called CPPD (calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease) using recognised medical classification standards, OR you have signs of CPPD visible on an ultrasound or X-ray even if you have no symptoms
- You have been diagnosed with gout using recognised medical classification standards
- You have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis (OA), with no signs of uric acid or calcium pyrophosphate crystals on ultrasound, and a uric acid level below 6 mg/dL (this applies to people joining as a "comparison group")
- You are older than 18 years of age
- You are able to give your informed consent to take part, as required by the ethics board overseeing the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known history of other types of inflammatory joint disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis or similar conditions — confirm with trial site for specifics)
- You are unable to give your informed consent to take part in the trial
