Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
• People whose depression has been assessed by a psychiatrist as moderate or more severe, based on two standard rating scales used to measure symptom severity.
• People who have been taking antidepressant medication at a stable dose for at least four weeks but whose depression has not responded well enough to that treatment — this trial involves adding a new treatment on top of existing medication.

• People who have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia.
• People who currently have or have recently had a substance use disorder (such as alcohol or drug misuse).
• People who have a history of brain lesions or conditions affecting how the brain or nervous system functions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, or stroke.
• People whose intellectual functioning is considered below normal based on clinical assessment, such as suspected intellectual disability or severe learning difficulties.
• People who are currently pregnant, due to limited safety information available for the treatment used in this trial.
• People who, in the trial doctor's judgment, would be unable or unwilling to cooperate with the study requirements or to sign the consent form for any other reason.
