Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 20 and 80 years old.
- People with a confirmed diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD — a condition where stomach acid regularly flows back into the food pipe), confirmed by at least one of the following:
- An internal camera examination (endoscopy) done within the past 3 months showing a mild level of acid damage to the food pipe (called "LA grade A"), combined with regular use of acid-reducing medication for more than 2 months.
- A 24-hour test measuring acid levels in the food pipe, showing that acid was present at an above-normal level (confirm with trial site for what this means for a specific case).
- An endoscopy done within the past 3 months showing a moderate or higher level of acid damage to the food pipe (LA grade B or above).
- People who are willing and able to take part in the full program, including following the training schedules, attending all follow-up appointments, and completing all required assessments.
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- People who have previously had surgery for acid reflux or any other surgery on the upper digestive system related to this condition.
- People with a significant heart or lung condition that could make breathing-based exercises unsafe or difficult to perform.
- People who are unable to follow the study schedule — for example, due to memory or thinking difficulties, physical limitations, or an inability to attend regular visits.
