Who may be able to join

  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis), based on their own report
  • People whose MS has caused a significant level of physical disability, measured by a standard MS disability scale score of 7.0 or higher (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose MS treatment medication has remained unchanged and stable for the past six months
  • People whose doctor has given approval for them to take part in exercise

Who may not be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with another neurological condition (a condition affecting the brain or nervous system) in addition to MS
  • People who have had an MS relapse (a flare-up of symptoms) within the past 30 days
  • People who have signs or symptoms of a serious or uncontrolled heart, kidney, or metabolic condition, or any other condition that would make exercise unsafe for them
  • People who are already doing regular aerobic exercise, meaning two or more sessions per week for 12 weeks or more
  • For the specific exercise component involving electrical stimulation cycling (FES cycling), people who have a cardiac pacemaker, an implanted heart defibrillator, unhealed broken bones, a current pregnancy, epilepsy, a condition called autonomic dysreflexia, or an active infection may not be able to take part in that component
