Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with cancer in one of these areas: the lower part of the bile duct, the head of the pancreas, the area around where the bile duct meets the small intestine (periampullary), or the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine)
- People who are already scheduled to have a planned Whipple's procedure (a major surgery to remove part of the pancreas and surrounding structures), either as keyhole or open surgery
- People aged 18 or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People having a Whipple's procedure for a reason other than cancer
- People requiring emergency surgery rather than a planned procedure
- People who have serious complications before surgery that prevent them from eating or drinking by mouth
- People under the age of 18
