Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 45 years old
- Pregnant people at any pre-pregnancy body weight or size
- People who have at least one high-risk factor, or at least one moderate-risk factor, for a pregnancy complication called pre-eclampsia, based on recognised medical guidelines (confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing to take aspirin as part of the study
- People who are willing to take part in a 2-hour blood sugar test, surveys, breathing measurements, body composition measurements, and newborn measurements

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
- People who currently have gestational diabetes (diabetes that developed during pregnancy)
- People who have a current or active condition that affects their platelets or blood clotting ability (such as low platelet counts, ITP, TTP, or von Willebrand disease)
- People who have a condition that increases the risk of blood clots (known as thrombophilia)
- People who are currently taking anti-inflammatory pain medications such as ibuprofen or indomethacin for another condition
- People who are currently taking certain medicines that affect the immune system, such as hydroxychloroquine or azathioprine
- People who are currently using, or have recently used, steroid medications
- People who are currently taking blood-thinning medications
- People for whom aspirin is medically unsuitable
- People with a molar pregnancy (a rare pregnancy complication where a fertilised egg develops abnormally)
- People with kidney disease
- People who are unable or unwilling to give formal consent to participate
- People whose current mental health or personal circumstances may make it difficult to follow the study requirements, as assessed by the trial investigators
