Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been fully informed about the trial and have signed a written consent form
• People who have been diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma (a specific type of rectal cancer) confirmed through a colonoscopy biopsy and pathology results
• People whose cancer is classified as a locally advanced stage II or III rectal cancer, based on standard staging measurements, with no spread to distant parts of the body
• People whose tumor is located within 10 cm of the anal opening, as measured by MRI scan
• People who are planned to receive treatment before surgery (known as neoadjuvant therapy)
• People who are 18 years of age or older, of any gender

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose cancer has spread to distant organs in the body
• People who have more than one primary colorectal cancer at the same time
• People who have a history of a previous or other cancer, unless it was a fully cured case of cervical carcinoma in situ, basal cell skin cancer, or squamous cell skin cancer
