Who might be able to join this trial:

For healthy volunteers:

• People aged between 20 and 80 years old
• People who weigh between 40kg and 100kg
• People with no history of neurological or psychiatric conditions
• People with no history of a head injury that caused loss of consciousness for more than 30 minutes
• Women who are able to become pregnant must be using highly effective contraception
• People who are enrolled in a social security or equivalent scheme
• People who are not under any form of legal protection order
• People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part

For people with Parkinson's disease:

• People aged between 40 and 80 years old
• People who weigh between 40kg and 100kg
• People diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease that responds to dopamine-based treatment
• People with no history of a head injury that caused loss of consciousness for more than 30 minutes
• People with no additional neurological conditions alongside their Parkinson's diagnosis
• Women who are able to become pregnant must be using highly effective contraception
• People who are enrolled in a social security or equivalent scheme
• People who are not under any form of legal protection order
• People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are currently taking, or have taken in the last month, certain medications that affect the brain or mood (such as antihistamines) — a specific list is held by the trial site
• People who have a current or past diagnosis of dependence on alcohol or any addictive substance (exceptions apply for nicotine and caffeine)
• People who are already taking part in another medical research study, or who have taken part in a study involving radiation exposure within the past year
• Women who are pregnant, have recently given birth, or are breastfeeding
• People who cannot have an MRI scan — this includes those with pacemakers, insulin pumps, certain metal implants or foreign objects in the body or eyes, cochlear implants, neurosensory stimulators, implantable defibrillators, certain surgical shunt valves, severe claustrophobia, or those who are unable to remain still during the scan (confirm with trial site)
• People with a known allergy or sensitivity to the substances used in the PET scan at the study centre, including sodium chloride
• People who, in the investigator's judgement, would be unable to understand or complete the study — for example, due to a language barrier or apparent lack of motivation
• People who do not agree to be told if an unexpected abnormality is found during their MRI or cognitive assessments
• People who are currently deprived of their liberty by a court or administrative decision
• People who are currently receiving psychiatric care
• People who are residing in a health or social care facility for reasons unrelated to research
