Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 40 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with primary Parkinson's disease, based on the MDS Parkinson's Disease Diagnostic Criteria (2015 Edition)
- People whose Parkinson's medications have not been changed in the 4 weeks before the trial begins and will remain unchanged during the stimulation sessions
- People whose Parkinson's disease symptoms fall within a certain range of severity, as measured by two standard rating scales used by doctors (MDS-UPDRS III score of 8 or above, and Hoehn-Yahr stage between 1 and 4)
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose previous brain scans (MRI or CT) showed a localised brain injury or significant damage to the brain's white matter at a severe level (Fazekas grade 3 or above)
- People whose Parkinson's-like symptoms are caused by another condition, such as reduced blood flow to the brain or a medication side effect, rather than primary Parkinson's disease
- People who have had a serious head injury, brain surgery, or deep brain stimulation treatment
- People who have metal implants in their body, such as a cochlear implant or a cardiac pacemaker
- People with a history of epilepsy, unexplained blackouts or loss of consciousness, or who are currently taking anti-seizure medications
- People who have been diagnosed with a neurological or psychiatric condition other than Parkinson's disease
- People with a history of drug abuse or illicit drug use
- People who have taken part in any other clinical trial within the past 3 months
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone (including men) who plans to have children within the next 6 months
- People whom the research team considers unsuitable for the trial for any other reason (confirm with trial site)
