Who might be able to join this trial:

• Children aged 3 to under 18 years old
• Children who are scheduled to have their tonsils removed, with or without their adenoids removed
• Children whose recovery after surgery will take place in a monitored medical setting, such as a post-anesthesia care unit
• Cases where a parent or legal guardian is able to give consent on the child's behalf, and where the child is able to give their own agreement if old enough to do so

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who have a known condition affecting the brain or nervous system, or a known eye condition, that may change how their pupils respond
• Children who are taking medications (outside of standard surgical care) that are known to significantly affect how their pupils respond
• Children where reliable pupil measurements cannot be safely taken, for example due to an eye injury
• Children who will not be receiving opioid pain relief as part of their surgical care
• Children who have any other condition that the trial doctor believes would interfere with their participation or make the results difficult to interpret (confirm with trial site)
