Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 21 and 50 years old (male or female)
- If you have Type 1 diabetes (T1D): you have had it for at least 5 years and your recent average blood sugar level (HbA1c) is 8.5% or below, managed with daily insulin injections or an insulin pump
- Your body mass index (BMI — a measure based on height and weight) falls within a specific range depending on which group you are in: roughly 19–27 for healthy controls and those with T1D only, or roughly 30–40 (or 27.5–37.5 for Asian Americans) for those in the obesity or T1D-plus-obesity groups
- Any non-insulin medications you take have been used at a stable dose for more than 6 months (hormonal medications like estrogen or progesterone must have been stopped at least 3 months before the study; however, hormonal IUDs may be allowed due to low absorption into the body)
