Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 80 years old
- People of any sex (male or female)
- People who have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) that comes and goes or has been ongoing, and for whom doctors have recommended a heart procedure called catheter ablation for the first time
- People who are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously had a catheter ablation procedure or a type of heart surgery called a MAZE procedure for their irregular heartbeat
- People whose irregular heartbeat has been continuous for more than 12 months
- People who have a blood clot inside their heart, or for whom blood-thinning medication is not considered safe
- People who are pregnant, or people who are unable to provide written consent to participate
