Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are male or female and are over 18 years old
- You have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for more than 5 years, and certain diabetes-related proteins (autoantibodies) were found in your blood either at diagnosis or during a routine visit at Diabeter Centrum
- Your pancreas still produces a small but detectable amount of insulin, shown by a specific urine or blood test result (confirm with trial site)
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) — a measure of body weight relative to height — is between 18 and 30
Who may not be able to join:
- You have taken antibiotics or stomach acid-reducing medicines (such as omeprazole) in the last three months before the study or plan to during the study
- You have taken probiotic supplements (such as certain yoghurt drinks or capsules) in the last month before the study or plan to during the study
- You have had your gallbladder removed
- You have an untreated gut condition, inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's or colitis), or unusual bowel habits
- You do not have a large bowel, for example if you have a colostomy bag
- You have a condition or are receiving treatment that weakens your immune system, such as HIV, chemotherapy, other autoimmune diseases, or long-term anti-inflammatory medication
- You have a history of heart disease or related events (confirm with trial site)
- Your liver test results are significantly above the normal range
- You have severe kidney problems, are on dialysis, or have had a kidney transplant
- You are unwilling or unable to provide stool or urine samples for the study
- You have smoked or used recreational drugs in the past three months, or plan to during the study
- You drink 21 or more units of alcohol per week
- You are unwilling or unable to give your formal consent to take part
