Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are a junior or senior high school student currently studying in mainland China, between the ages of 10 and 19
• Between 6 and 60 months before the study period, you experienced the death of a close family member or friend
• Your score on a grief symptom questionnaire called the PG-13-R falls between 20 and 29 points (this will be assessed as part of the process)
• You are able to read and understand written instructions, and can use a mobile phone to interact with an AI
• You are willing to give your consent to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

• You have been diagnosed with a mental illness, either now or in the past
• The time since your bereavement does not fall within the required 6 to 60 month window
• Your PG-13-R grief questionnaire score falls outside the required range
• You are currently having thoughts of suicide or have recently engaged in serious self-harm behavior (confirm with trial site); if this applies to you, the trial team can provide details of a crisis support helpline
• You have received grief counselling or have been taking psychiatric medication within the past month
