Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as chronic acid reflux)

  • People who are currently taking a stable, regular dose of a acid-reducing medication called rabeprazole (a type of proton pump inhibitor, or PPI)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have used probiotic or prebiotic supplements or products in the past 4 weeks
  • People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have taken antibiotic or other antimicrobial medications in the past 4 weeks
  • People who have had a respiratory (lung or airway) or gastrointestinal (stomach or bowel) infection in the past 2 weeks
  • People who have a serious ongoing health condition that could affect the study results, such as cancer, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, or a condition called SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)
  • People who have previously had certain surgeries, particularly a fundoplication (a surgery for reflux) or removal of part of the oesophagus or stomach
  • People who have a diagnosed psychiatric condition or a condition affecting memory or thinking
  • People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient in the treatment being tested in this trial
