- People attending the UCSF plastic surgery breast reconstruction clinic for the first time (not a return visit)
- People considering mastectomy (breast removal surgery) because of a breast cancer diagnosis

- People considering a staged surgical plan, such as a delayed mastectomy combined with an initial breast reduction
- People who have not yet decided between a lumpectomy (partial breast removal) and a mastectomy
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are returning patients already attending the clinic for follow-up appointments
- People who are mainly considering a lumpectomy or oncoplastic reduction (a type of breast-reshaping surgery) at the time of their visit
- People who do not speak English, as the educational materials used in this trial are currently only available in English
