Who may be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS (RMS) or primary progressive MS (PPMS) based on a specific set of diagnostic standards called the 2017 McDonald criteria.
  • People whose MS-related disability level, measured on a standard scale called the EDSS, falls between 0 and 6.5 at the time of screening or within the 6 months before screening.
  • People who are stopping a type of MS medication called anti-CD20 (aCD20) therapy for reasons such as personal or doctor preference, difficulty accessing the medication (for example, insurance issues), or practical reasons like moving to a new area or travel difficulties.
  • People who have previously been treated with one of the following anti-CD20 medications: ofatumumab (given by injection under the skin), ublituximab-xiiy (given by IV drip), or ocrelizumab (given by IV drip).

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose MS did not respond well enough to anti-CD20 therapy.
  • People who are stopping anti-CD20 therapy because of serious side effects, specifically: a severe allergic or infusion reaction rated grade 3 or higher, or repeated serious infections (grade 3 or higher) or needing two or more courses of antibiotics after starting anti-CD20 therapy, if the trial doctor believes the infections are related to the medication.
  • People who cannot receive a type of MRI contrast dye called gadolinium, or who are unable to have an MRI scan for any reason.
  • People with a known active, returning, or long-term infection such as HIV, syphilis, HPV, or tuberculosis.
  • People with a history of a confirmed or suspected serious brain infection called progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).
  • People with other known neurological conditions that could make it difficult to clearly diagnose RMS or PPMS.
  • People who have another condition that may require treatment with steroid medications or immune-suppressing drugs during the trial.
  • People with a known allergy or sensitivity to ocrelizumab or any of the ingredients in the version of the medication being studied.
  • People who have previously had a bone marrow transplant or a stem cell transplant.
  • People who received a live vaccine within 6 weeks before the start of the trial.
  • People who have undergone any experimental treatments for RMS or PPMS, such as procedures targeting a condition called chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency.
  • People who have previously been treated with any of the following medications: cladribine, atacicept, alemtuzumab, or mitoxantrone.
  • People who test positive for hepatitis B or hepatitis C antibodies at screening.
  • Additional criteria not listed here may also apply (confirm with trial site).
