Who may be able to join
- People of any gender who currently smoke or who stopped smoking no more than 15 years ago.
- People with a smoking history of 20 pack-years or more (this is a measure of how much someone has smoked over time — confirm with trial site if unsure how to calculate this).
- People between 50 and 80 years old.
- People who have given written, signed, and dated consent to participate.
Who may not be able to join

- People who are unable to have a CT scan for any reason.
- People who cannot lie flat on their back for more than 10 minutes at a time.
- People who have symptoms that strongly suggest lung cancer, such as coughing up blood, chest pain, a change in their usual cough pattern, or unintentional weight loss of more than 10 kg.
- People who have been diagnosed with severe heart disease and are taking multiple medications for it.
- People who have been diagnosed with severe lung disease, are taking multiple medications for it, and/or need oxygen at home.
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the chest area.
- People who are currently being assessed for cancer or receiving cancer treatment.
- People who are showing signs of breathing difficulty, such as flared nostrils, visible straining in the neck or throat, use of extra muscles to breathe, or a bluish colour to the skin.
- People who are pregnant.
