Who might be able to join this trial:

Group A (suspected pancreatic cancer):

  • You are a man or woman aged 18 or older
  • Scans suggest you may have pancreatic cancer, though it has not necessarily been confirmed by biopsy
  • Your CT, MRI, or PET/CT scan, reviewed by a specialist medical team, shows no signs that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body
  • Your doctors have considered you suitable for surgery with the aim of curing the cancer
  • You are able to read and understand patient information written in Danish, so you can give your consent to take part

Group B1 (confirmed cancer of the lower food pipe, stomach junction, or stomach):

  • You are a man or woman aged 18 or older
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis (from a tissue sample) of cancer in the lower part of the food pipe, the area where the food pipe meets the stomach, or the stomach itself
  • Your doctors have considered you fit enough for surgery and that the cancer can be surgically removed
  • You are able to read and understand patient information written in Danish, so you can give your consent to take part

Group B2 (specific stomach/food pipe cancer types):

  • You are a man or woman aged 18 or older
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis (from a tissue sample) of a specific type of stomach or food pipe cancer known as signet ring cell carcinoma or poorly cohesive carcinoma (confirm with trial site)
  • Your cancer is either localised and you are planned to receive chemotherapy around the time of surgery, or it has spread and you are planned to receive treatment to manage symptoms
  • You are able to read and understand patient information written in Danish, so you can give your consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You weigh more than 140 kg, which is the maximum weight the PET/CT scanner can safely support
  • You have previously had an allergic reaction to a substance with a similar chemical make-up to the special imaging agent used in this trial (confirm with trial site)
