Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged between 18 and 80 years old
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm), either the type that comes and goes or the type that stays for longer periods
- People who are already scheduled to have a catheter ablation procedure for their atrial fibrillation, including those who have had a previous ablation but whose atrial fibrillation has returned
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who are able to attend a follow-up appointment 3 months after their procedure
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose heart's pumping strength is below a certain level (a measurement called ejection fraction below 35%) (confirm with trial site)
- People with serious heart valve problems, specifically moderate to severe narrowing or leaking of the mitral valve
- People who have previously had a blood clot inside their heart
- People for whom blood-thinning medications are not a safe option
- People who currently have an active infection or blood infection (sepsis)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have another serious illness that means their life expectancy is less than 12 months
- People who have taken part in another interventional clinical trial within the 30 days before enrolling in this study
