Plantar Fasciitis Group
Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have had pain in one heel for at least 3 months, especially pain that is worse with the first steps in the morning and increases with standing or walking throughout the day
- People whose heel is tender when pressure is applied to a specific area on the inner side of the heel bone
- People who have read and signed the required consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are younger than 18 or older than 65 years old
- People who have received physiotherapy, an injection, radiation treatment, or surgery for their plantar fascia (the tissue along the bottom of the foot) in the last 6 months
- People who have a fracture, tumour, or cyst in or around the heel bone
- People who have a foot deformity, such as club foot or certain arch-related conditions (confirm with trial site)
- People who have nerve-related conditions affecting the lower back or foot, such as tarsal tunnel syndrome or peripheral neuropathy (confirm with trial site)
- People who have rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or gout
- People who have osteoarthritis in the foot or ankle
- People who have a bone infection or skin infection in the foot
- People who have serious systemic health conditions such as kidney failure, liver failure, diabetes, or peripheral arterial vascular disease
Healthy Control Group
Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are in completely good health
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old
- People who have read and signed the required consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are younger than 18 or older than 65 years old
- People who have any acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) illness
- People who are unable to read or who do not give consent to participate in the study
