Who may be able to join
- People aged between 19 and 70 years.
- People who have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis, based on a standard scoring tool called the partial Mayo score, with a score between 2 and 7.
- People who have signs of active inflammation at the time of joining, shown by either a blood marker called C-reactive protein (CRP) above 5 mg/L, or a stool marker called fecal calprotectin (FCP) above 200 µg/g.

Who may not be able to join

- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 18 kg/m², which is a measure of body weight relative to height.

- People with serious medical conditions, including active cancer, significant heart or cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or severe food allergies.
- People with a known allergy or intolerance to corn, dextrose, or maltodextrin.
- People who have used antibiotics within the 3 months before joining.
- People who have used probiotic supplements within the 3 months before joining.
- People who use herbal anti-inflammatory supplements during the study, including serrapeptidase, curcumin, boswellia, or bromelain (or similar supplements — confirm with trial site for a full list).
- People who have had major bowel surgery, including an ostomy, full removal of the colon (total colectomy), or who have short bowel syndrome.
- People who are unable or unwilling to follow the study procedures, including those with upcoming travel or other commitments that may interfere with taking part.
