Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or below (a measure of weight relative to height).
- Scans have confirmed you have one or more growths on the middle or left part of your pancreas that need to be surgically removed (a procedure called distal pancreatectomy), with or without removal of the spleen.
- Your surgeon has reviewed your CT or MRI scans and believes the surgery can be done using keyhole (laparoscopic) techniques.
- You are reasonably active and able to care for yourself, with only mild or no physical limitations (confirm with trial site).
- Your liver is working well enough, based on standard blood test results (confirm with trial site).
- If you have previously received chemotherapy, combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy, or radiotherapy alone, you may still be eligible as long as scans confirm the tumour can still be removed and it has been at least 3 weeks since your last treatment.
- You are able and willing to give written consent and attend all required follow-up appointments.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known allergy or bad reaction to indocyanine green (a dye used in surgery), iodine, or iodinated contrast dyes used in scans.
- You have a blood clotting problem that cannot be corrected (based on specific blood test results — confirm with trial site).
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have had major surgery on the upper part of your abdomen before (such as removal of all or part of the pancreas or stomach), which could make keyhole surgery unsafe.
- Your cancer has spread to other parts of the body, or is so advanced that blood vessels would also need to be removed during surgery.
- Your overall health is considered too poor to safely undergo surgery (based on an anaesthesia risk rating — confirm with trial site).
- You have severe liver disease (confirm with trial site).
- You are unable or unwilling to attend the scheduled follow-up visits and tests.
- You are already taking part in another clinical trial that involves a treatment or procedure.
