Who might be able to join this trial:
Younger adults (with normal thinking and memory):
- People aged 18 to 35 years old
- People who score between 26 and 30 on a standard memory and thinking test called the MoCA
Older adults:
- People aged 50 to 79, with or without mild memory or thinking difficulties (MCI)
- People aged 50 to 79 who have Parkinson's disease and are able to make their own decisions about participation
- People who currently do less than 150 minutes of moderate exercise, or less than 75 minutes of vigorous exercise, per week
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently unwell enough to need hospital care
- People with heart failure that is not well controlled by treatment
- People who have had a stroke in the past three years
- People who are physically or medically unable to take part in the study activities
- People with health or physical conditions that would make participation unsafe, such as severe arthritis, serious mobility problems, poorly controlled high blood pressure or diabetes, kidney failure, or a history of chest pain during physical activity
- People taking certain medications that could affect memory or thinking — such as antipsychotics, opioids, stimulants, chemotherapy, or medications for Multiple Sclerosis — or people whose doses of certain memory-related medications have not been stable for at least 3 months (confirm with trial site)
- People with a psychotic disorder
- People with certain neurological conditions, such as active brain infections, seizure disorders, a serious head injury involving loss of consciousness for more than 30 minutes, brain tumours, or a stroke that caused lasting neurological or psychiatric effects
- People who have experienced a substance use disorder, major depression, or generalised anxiety disorder within the six months before assessment
- People who are not able to give their own informed consent to participate
