Who may be able to join
- People who are 18 years of age or older at the start of the trial, of any sex.
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of active ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel disease) and whose treating doctor believes they are likely to benefit from a medicine called etrasimod. "Active" disease is defined by specific scores measuring inflammation seen on a camera examination of the bowel, how often stools are passed, or the presence of rectal bleeding. Any extent of disease in the bowel is acceptable, and an endoscopy (bowel camera) report from within the past 12 months must be available.
- People who have been taking etrasimod for no longer than 6 months at the time of joining the trial.
- People who are willing to sign a consent form and are able to understand and complete study questionnaires and attend study visits.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People for whom etrasimod is not considered safe or appropriate to use, based on the official prescribing guidelines for this medicine.
- People who have previously been treated with 3 or more biologic therapies (a group of medicines that includes infliximab, adalimumab, vedolizumab, guselkumab, risankizumab, and mirikizumab), or with 2 or more of these biologic therapies plus at least one medicine from a group called JAK inhibitors (which includes upadacitinib and tofacitinib).
- People who have any other condition that the trial doctor believes could affect the reliability of the trial data or put the participant at risk (confirm with trial site).
