Who may be able to join
- People diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (a type of lung cancer), confirmed by lab testing of tissue or cells, at stage IIIB or IV.
- People aged 18 or older, of any gender.
- People whose lung cancer has a specific gene change (called an EGFR exon 19 deletion or exon 21 L858R mutation), confirmed by laboratory testing.
- People who have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) treatment for their cancer.

- People who are able to have children and who agree to use effective contraception during the study treatment and for a specified period after the last dose.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who are currently receiving other whole-body cancer treatments, or who plan to combine other cancer treatments during the study.
- People who have taken part in another experimental drug trial within the past 4 weeks, had major surgery within the past 4 weeks, have wounds that have not healed, active ulcers or fractures, or received radiotherapy within the past 2 weeks without sufficient recovery.
- People with serious heart or blood vessel conditions, including: a specific heart rhythm measurement (QTcF) of 450 ms or more, or other significant heart rhythm abnormalities; uncontrolled high blood pressure; heart failure, heart muscle disease, abnormal heart rhythms requiring treatment, unstable chest pain, heart attack, stroke, or a mini-stroke (TIA) within the past 6 months.
- People with uncontrolled active infections, including active hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, or active syphilis (as assessed by the trial doctor); stable infections considered low risk may be permitted.
- People with a history of a lung condition called interstitial lung disease, lung inflammation caused by drugs or radiation that required steroid treatment, or currently active interstitial lung disease.
- People with active bleeding, clinically significant coughing up of blood, a high risk of blood clots, or a history of severe blood clot events that make participation unsuitable.
- People with poor kidney function (creatinine clearance below 45 mL/min), a history of severe side effects from a drug called pemetrexed, or a severe allergic reaction to pemetrexed or its ingredients.
- People who have a positive pregnancy test within 7 days before starting treatment, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding; also, people who are able to have children but refuse to use contraception during the study and for 3 months after the last dose.
- People with a known severe allergic reaction to the study drugs befotertinib, cisplatin, carboplatin, or any of their ingredients.
- People with any other medical, physical, or laboratory condition that the trial doctor judges could affect safety or interfere with the study results.
