Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have tinnitus (ringing or noise in the ears) in one ear only
• People whose tinnitus severely impacts their daily life
• Men or women aged 18 years or older
• People whose tinnitus has been present for more than 1 year and has stayed the same during that time
• People whose tinnitus has not improved after trying standard treatments, such as hearing aids and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for a reasonable length of time
• People whose affected ear has a moderate-to-severe hearing loss, within a specific measured range (confirm with trial site)
• People whose other ear has functional hearing that is significantly better than the affected ear, within a specific measured range (confirm with trial site)
• People who have given informed consent after receiving detailed written and verbal information about the surgery, possible complications, and the uncertain effect of the implant on tinnitus

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose tinnitus has an identifiable cause that requires its own treatment, such as certain tumours, ear bone abnormalities, or blood vessel conditions — as determined by imaging and ear specialist examinations
• People with a diagnosed psychiatric condition or an unstable mental health situation, as assessed by a psychiatrist
• People who, in the opinion of the investigator and/or psychiatrist, have unrealistic expectations about the treatment
• People with a life expectancy of less than 5 years
• People with a history of blood clotting problems
• People whose general health risk is above a certain level as rated by a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site)
• People who are pregnant
• People whose skull structure would prevent the implant device from being placed correctly
• People whose anatomy or surgical circumstances would prevent the electrode part of the implant from being placed correctly
• People with a known allergy or intolerance to the materials used in the implant, including medical-grade silicone, platinum, iridium, or parylene C
