Who may be able to join

  • People aged 18 to 70 years (or 18 to 85 years for those with Alzheimer's disease or healthy volunteers taking part as controls).

Who may not be able to join

  • People who have another known brain or nervous system condition, a previous significant head injury, or a history of substance abuse.
  • People who have bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
  • People with other health conditions that would make the study procedures unsafe for them.
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who are trying to become pregnant or think they may be pregnant.
  • People who experience severe anxiety in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia).
  • People who have implanted medical devices that are not safe to use near an MRI machine.
  • For the Ocrelizumab treatment group: people who are already receiving Ocrelizumab.
  • For the steroids treatment group: people who have already begun steroid treatment.
  • For the Ocrelizumab group, the steroids group, and the long-term follow-up group: people whose blood test shows an abnormal level of a kidney marker called creatinine.
