Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Wolfram syndrome and have access to the internet.
- You developed diabetes (high blood sugar) before the age of 16 AND/OR experienced vision loss due to optic nerve damage before the age of 16 (these are the main qualifying conditions).
- You may also qualify if you meet one of the main conditions above plus at least two of the following: diabetes insipidus (a water-regulation condition), diabetes or optic nerve damage first appearing after age 16, hearing loss caused by nerve damage, neurological signs such as balance problems, seizures, or memory/thinking difficulties, kidney or urinary tract problems, a specific gene mutation in WFS1 or CISD2, or a family history of Wolfram syndrome.
- You may qualify if two disease-causing mutations are found in the WFS1 or CISD2 genes, even without the main criteria above.
- Children and minors are encouraged to participate, as the disease often begins in childhood.
- Unaffected parents, brothers, sisters, or spouses of patients may also be able to join as comparison participants.
Who may not be able to join:
- You or your guardian are unable to get help with translation and therefore cannot understand the questionnaire.
- Family members who wish to join as comparison participants but cannot understand the informed consent document may not be eligible.
