Who might be able to join this trial:

• The person must live in Canada.
• The person must be in generally good physical condition and able to carry out daily activities, as measured by a standard health scoring system called the ECOG scale (scores 0–1, with brief dips to score 2 allowed at the doctor's discretion).
• The person must have a confirmed diagnosis of colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver (called liver metastases).
• The person must be willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part.
• Women who could become pregnant must have a negative blood pregnancy test before joining.
• All participants, both men and women, must agree to use reliable barrier contraception (such as condoms) throughout the trial.
• At least one suitable, blood-type-compatible living donor must have come forward to donate part of their liver.
• The original colorectal cancer tumour must have been at a certain stage of growth (stage T4a or lower) (confirm with trial site).
• At least 6 months must have passed between the surgical removal of the original colorectal cancer and the planned liver transplant.
• The liver metastases must be present in both sides of the liver and must not be able to be removed by surgery.
• The liver metastases must not have grown into major blood vessels, and the cancer must be confined to the liver only.
• The person must have received standard chemotherapy treatment (such as FOLFOX or FOLFIRI, with or without bevacizumab) for at least 3 months.
• The liver metastases must have stayed the same size or shrunk over at least the 3 months before the screening assessment.
• A blood marker for colorectal cancer called CEA must have remained stable or been decreasing at all measurements taken before the transplant surgery.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had, or currently have, another type of cancer (some exceptions may apply — confirm with trial site).
• People who have previously had lung surgery to remove part of a lung.
• People whose liver metastases have grown or spread at any point before the planned transplant surgery.
• People with reduced kidney function, where the kidneys are filtering below a certain level (less than 50 ml/min).
• People with significant breathing or lung problems.
• People with a history of heart disease.
• People with a known history of HIV infection, or chronic hepatitis B or C infection.
• People with significant nerve damage causing debilitating symptoms (above a certain severity level on a standard medical grading scale).
• People whose tumour tests positive for a gene change called BRAF.
• People with any other unstable health condition that could affect their safety or ability to take part in the trial.
