Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who are currently admitted to hospital with one of the following conditions: heart failure causing fluid build-up in the lungs or legs, a state where the heart is too weak to pump enough blood to the body (cardiogenic shock), or a condition where the heart cannot keep up with the body's unusually high demands
- People who have been shown to have reduced heart function through an ultrasound scan of the heart (echocardiography)
- People who are able to give their written agreement to take part in the study

- People who have refused to take part in the initial assessments or follow-up visits
- People who have a serious additional health condition that means their life expectancy is expected to be less than 12 months
