Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 to under 60 years old who are living with HIV
- People living with HIV whose recent blood test (within the last 6 months) shows an immune cell count (CD4) above 200 — or, if no recent test is available, those with an undetectable HIV level in the blood and a previous CD4 count above 350
- Adults aged 18 to under 60 years old who do not have HIV and are in general good health
- People who have never received a Yellow Fever vaccine
- People who are willing to take part and sign a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People with certain serious ongoing health conditions, including poorly controlled diabetes, kidney failure requiring dialysis, liver failure or cirrhosis, or most types of cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer and certain HIV-related cancers may be exceptions — confirm with trial site)
- People who have been taking strong immune-suppressing medications (such as prednisone at 20mg per day or more, for 7 or more days in the month before joining)
- Women who are pregnant
- People with an allergy or sensitivity to eggs or chicken protein, an allergy to the antibiotics erythromycin or kanamycin, or a condition called hereditary fructose intolerance
- People who have received immunoglobulins, blood products, or a live attenuated (weakened live virus) vaccine within certain timeframes before joining (3 months for blood products; 1 month for live vaccines)
- People with a history of thymus gland problems, including removal of the thymus (thymectomy) or a tumour of the thymus (thymoma)
- People currently using a type of HIV medication known as anti-CCR5 drugs
- People who have signs of a serious acute illness or a fever (underarm temperature of 38°C or above) at the time of joining
- HIV-negative participants who return a positive HIV rapid test result
