Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a confirmed HIV diagnosis
- People who have been on combination antiretroviral therapy (a standard HIV treatment regimen) for more than 12 months
- People whose HIV is well controlled, with very low virus levels in the blood (under 50 copies/ml) and a healthy immune cell count (CD4 count above 350 cells/ul)
- People who do not have serious liver, heart, or kidney disease
- People who understand the study, are willing to take part, and have signed a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection, or who currently have a serious opportunistic infection (an illness that occurs when the immune system is weakened)
- People who have a serious ongoing condition such as diabetes or a mental illness
- People who have had pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) at any point while on HIV treatment
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had difficulty sticking to their medication schedule as prescribed
- People who would not be able to attend the required follow-up appointments
