Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) that is at least moderately severe, based on a specific questionnaire score, and it is linked to blast or loud noise exposure, a head injury, or a concussion diagnosed by a healthcare provider
  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
  • You have stopped any other tinnitus treatments or programs for at least 4 weeks before joining (hearing aids are allowed if you have been using them for at least 4 weeks)
  • Your tinnitus is constant — not coming and going or pulsing in rhythm with your heartbeat
  • Your tinnitus can be heard in one ear, both ears, or inside your head
  • All levels of hearing ability are welcome, including those with very severe hearing loss in both ears

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a history of serious brain conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, ALS, Huntington's disease, multiple sclerosis, or other diseases affecting the nerves or brain — or you have had brain surgery (though certain specific procedures such as removal of a blood clot on the brain may be allowed — confirm with trial site)

  • You have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure (a condition where the heart does not pump blood effectively)

  • You have an autoimmune disease that weakens your immune system (autoimmune thyroid disease is not considered a reason to be excluded)

  • You are currently taking or planning to take certain medications, including some used for cancer, immune system conditions, or blood sugar management (confirm with trial site for the full list)
  • You are not able to reliably communicate with the research team or complete the study requirements, as judged by the study doctor
  • You have taken part in another drug clinical trial in the last 30 days
  • You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study
  • You are breastfeeding, or you are of childbearing age and not using contraception
