Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been told you may have had a heart attack with no blocked arteries (sometimes called MINOCA) or a condition called takotsubo syndrome (also known as "broken heart syndrome"), confirmed by a heart artery scan showing no major blockages
  • You are between 35 and 80 years old
  • Your heart was showing a normal regular rhythm on your heart tracing (ECG) when you were admitted to hospital
  • You scored above a certain level on stress or anxiety questionnaires (called PSS-14 and/or HADS-A) while in hospital (confirm with trial site)
  • You are able to read and write in Swedish
  • You have access to a computer or the internet and are comfortable using it

Who may not be able to join:

  • There is a strong suspicion that your heart condition was caused by inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis)
  • Your heart artery issue was caused by a tear inside the artery (spontaneous coronary artery dissection)
  • You had a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) around the same time
  • Your heart attack was caused by another condition putting extra strain on the heart, rather than a blocked artery (confirm with trial site)
  • You have a heart muscle condition other than takotsubo syndrome
  • You have previously had a heart attack caused by blocked heart arteries
  • There are concerns that you would be unlikely to engage with or complete a talking/behavioural therapy programme
  • You have a serious illness such as cancer that means you are not expected to live for more than one year
