Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a hereditary heart rhythm or heart muscle condition — such as arrhythmogenic, hypertrophic, or dilated cardiomyopathy, cardiac sarcoidosis, Long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, or catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) — and are being seen at the Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) service at St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
- Family members of someone who died suddenly from a suspected heart condition, where that family member is being assessed at the same clinic for risk and diagnosis.
- People who have clear signs of one of these conditions based on standard heart tests (such as ECGs, echocardiograms, cardiac MRI, or Holter monitoring), as well as people who carry a relevant gene change but may not yet show any obvious symptoms.
- People currently receiving any type of treatment for their condition, including medications, implanted devices, or surgery — all are eligible to participate.
- People who have other health conditions alongside their heart condition — their full medical history would be taken into account.
- Adults aged 18 and over.
- Pregnant women — the study methods used are described as non-harmful and non-invasive.
- People who have read the study information and signed a consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age.
- People who are not able to make their own informed decisions about participating.
- People who have a heart condition that is not hereditary or not related to heart rhythm — for example, heart disease caused by blocked arteries or inflammatory heart conditions — even if they are seen at St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
- People who do not speak English, unless a translator is available who can fully explain the study so that informed consent can be properly given.
