Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 80 years old
- People who are able to understand and sign a consent form
- People diagnosed with a non-ischemic structural heart muscle disease (a heart muscle condition not caused by blocked arteries), specifically at least one of the following:
- People with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) — a condition where the heart muscle is weakened and stretched — that is inherited/genetic, caused by ongoing inflammation or myocarditis, or has no identified cause, and where the heart's pumping function is reduced (confirm with trial site)
- People with left ventricular hypertrophy — a thickening of the heart's main pumping chamber — caused by inherited gene changes (HCM/HOCM) or a protein build-up condition called amyloidosis
- People with Left Ventricular Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy (LVNC) — a condition where the heart muscle has an unusual spongy structure
- People with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D) — a condition affecting the right side of the heart muscle that can cause abnormal heart rhythms
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 or over 80 years of age
- People with high blood pressure that cannot be controlled with treatment
- People with primary pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs not caused by another condition)
- People who have had radiation therapy to the chest area
- People with a drug or alcohol dependency
- People with a non-heart-related illness where life expectancy is less than 1 year
- People with significant heart valve disease
- People with heart disease caused by blocked arteries, or serious heart defects present from birth (such as a hole in the heart, Tetralogy of Fallot, or Ebstein anomaly)
- People with heart muscle damage caused by chemotherapy
- People with a previous diagnosis of myocarditis
- People with a combination of multiple traditional heart disease risk factors (for example, both high blood pressure and diabetes)
- People with advanced long-term non-heart-related illnesses (for example, chronic hepatitis or HIV)
- People with tachymyopathy — a heart muscle condition caused by a persistently fast heart rate
