Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer that has spread (metastasized) to the liver, and the liver is the main area affected.
- Your liver metastasis has been confirmed either through a tissue/cell sample (biopsy) or through scans and clinical assessment.
- Your liver tumors cannot be removed by surgery, or treated with heat ablation (RFA) or a focused radiation technique (SBRT).
- You have stopped all chemotherapy at least 14 days before the planned treatment in this trial.
- You have stopped any medications that block blood vessel growth (such as bevacizumab) at least 6 weeks before the planned treatment.
- Your cancer has gotten worse, or you had serious side effects from, all standard chemotherapy treatments available to you.
- You are generally well enough to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site).
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are able to read and understand written information.
- You agree to provide samples for research purposes.
Who may not be able to join:
- A pre-treatment scan using a special tracer (a radioactive substance used to check blood flow) shows it is reaching the digestive tract (stomach or bowel) in a way that cannot be corrected.
- Evidence that the tracer is reaching the stomach or the upper part of the small intestine, even after attempts to prevent this.
- You have previously had radiation therapy to your lungs or upper abdomen in a way that overlaps with the liver (confirm with trial site).
- The pre-treatment scan shows too much of the tracer going to your lungs (over 20%, or a radiation dose above 30 Gray to the lungs).
- You are pregnant.
- You have active lung disease that would make this treatment unsafe (confirm with trial site).
- You have an active infection that is not under control.
- Recent blood tests (within 30 days) show your liver is not functioning well enough — specifically, certain liver enzymes or bilirubin levels are too high.
- You currently have, or have previously had, fluid buildup in the abdomen (ascites), confirmed by scan or physical examination.
- Your tumors take up more than 50% of your total liver volume.
- You are unable or unwilling to provide samples for research purposes.
