• People with significant structural differences in the face or jaw that affect the airway
• People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) above 40
• People who are not considered safe to receive general anesthesia (being fully asleep during surgery)
• People who have previously had surgery on the soft palate, throat, or tongue area
