Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of liver cancer called hepatocellular carcinoma, confirmed either by a tissue sample (biopsy) or by meeting recognised medical imaging guidelines
- People whose cancer appears as a single tumour measuring between 3 and 8 centimetres
- People whose cancer is considered suitable for a full surgical removal of the tumour with the aim of no cancer left behind, and without needing a preparatory procedure to redirect blood flow in the liver before surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities is significantly limited (confirm with trial site)
- People with serious other health conditions that make either surgery or radiation therapy too risky
- People whose liver is not functioning well enough, based on a medical scoring system called Child-Pugh B or C
- People whose cancer has spread into the blood vessels of the liver or to other parts of the body outside the liver
- People who have received any cancer treatment within the last 5 years
