  • You report having trouble sleeping, such as difficulty falling asleep, waking up during the night, or waking up too early.
  • You are between 13 and 17 years old.
  • You are able to understand, read, and write in English.
  • You have never used melatonin before.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have obesity.
  • You are currently taking any medication for mental health conditions.
  • You currently take any drugs or supplements that are known to affect sleep.
  • You have a history of a head injury or concussion where you were unconscious for more than 1 minute.
  • You drink more than one caffeinated drink (such as coffee, energy drinks, or soda) every day.
  • You show signs of, or are at risk for, a physical sleep disorder such as sleep apnea (breathing problems during sleep) or restless leg syndrome (uncomfortable feelings in the legs at night) (confirm with trial site).
