Who might be able to join this trial:
- People whose heart is pumping out blood at a normal or near-normal rate (a measure called ejection fraction of 50% or above)
- People with elevated levels of certain proteins in the blood (NT-proBNP or BNP) that indicate the heart is under stress
- People who have symptoms and signs of heart failure
- People whose heart shows at least one sign of structural change (such as a thickened heart muscle or an enlarged upper chamber) and at least one sign of the heart not functioning normally, as measured by specialised ultrasound tests
Who may not be able to join:
- People with certain uncommon types of heart muscle disease, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thickened heart muscle) or restrictive cardiomyopathy (stiff heart muscle)
- People whose heart muscle has been damaged by blocked arteries, scarring from poor blood supply, or a recent heart attack
- People with serious irregular heart rhythms
- People with severe disease affecting the heart's valves
- People with a condition where the sac surrounding the heart has become stiff and is restricting the heart's movement
- People who do not wish to take part in the study
