Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • Both men and women are welcome to apply
  • You must be able to understand and agree to take part in the study yourself
  • You have been diagnosed with a heart muscle condition called cardiomyopathy or an inflammation of the heart called myocarditis
  • You have a close family member (such as a parent, sibling, child, grandparent, aunt, or uncle) who has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy
  • Pregnant women are also eligible to take part in this study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are not able to give their own consent to take part
  • People under 18, prisoners, those in a dependent relationship with a caregiver or doctor involved in the study, or those with a serious mental illness
  • People who have been told by their doctor that their heart muscle condition is caused by blocked or narrowed heart arteries (coronary artery disease)
  • People who have previously had a procedure to open blocked heart arteries (such as a stent) or heart bypass surgery
  • People who have a heart valve problem or a heart defect that was present from birth as their main heart condition
  • People with very high blood pressure that is severe and cannot be controlled or treated (confirm with trial site)
